Hay un aspecto no suficientemente estudiado en la obra de Pilar Albarracín, y que sin embargo genera una especial fascinación, y esto es la utilización de arquitecturas teatralizadas como telón de fondo de sus performance y vídeos. La selección de las calles por las que pasea la artista no es casual, en ellas vemos arquitectura surgida del desarrollo urbanístico y modernizador de principios del s. XX en España. Existe a través de los edificios y las construcciones, que aparecen en segundo plano, una llamada al pasado que se conecta así con el presente. La música que suena y los edificios que vemos datan ambos de la misma época.
One aspect of Albarracín’s work that has not been investigated enough and that is particularly fascinating is the use of theatrical architectures as a backdrop for her performances and videos. The choice of streets along which she walks is not random; they display the architecture that arose from Spain’s urban and modernist development of the early twentieth century. The buildings and structures that appear in the background contain a voice from the past that is thus connected with the present. The buildings date back to the same period as the music we hear.
